Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Buyer to join our dynamic Materials Team, responsible for sourcing and procuring a wide range of components, materials, and services in support of manufacturing and engineering operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive procurement expertise, a technical understanding of materials and components, and a strategic approach to sourcing and vendor management. This role is integral to ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply to meet operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Obtain materials, components, equipment, and services from qualified suppliers, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and production schedules.

  • Develop and maintain technical understanding of products and systems purchased; interpret prints, schematics, CAD files, drawings, and e-files.

  • Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities and materials.

  • Monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned purchases and subcontracts to ensure highest quality at optimal value.

  • Identify and develop new supply sources where existing vendors are inadequate or limited.

  • Recommend and implement cost-saving proposals, including make-versus-buy analysis, alternative sourcing strategies, and vendor evaluation criteria.

  • Evaluate supplier performance and manage vendor relationships to ensure continuous improvement and reliable supply.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve complex procurement and production challenges using creative, data-driven approaches.

Candidate Profile:

  • Possesses wide-ranging procurement experience and uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex sourcing and supply challenges.

  • Demonstrates a strong ability to analyze complex situations, make informed decisions, and apply judgment within broadly defined practices and policies.

  • Proven track record of success in managing technical procurement activities, particularly in the electrical and/or manufacturing sectors.

  • Experience in ordering machined and sheet metal parts using various technical documentation formats.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of related procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing or electrical environment.

  • Proven ability to work independently on complex assignments and determine methods and procedures for new procurement initiatives.

  • Strong technical literacy and understanding of engineering documentation.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.
